About

What's Important To Us

We want to make sure everyone understands our mission and vision. We have narrowed it down to just four words. Worship | Grow | Serve | Disciple

Worship

Our desire is to worship God fully as described in Matthew 22:37-40. Our Sunday morning service is where we begin this process by ensuring everything we do we are doing it for the glory of the Lord. From the greeter at the door to taking communion at the end of our service, we want everyone who attends to experience the love of God and the overwhelming presence of the Holy Spirit.

Grow

We want everyone that attends to come as they are, but that does not mean we stay as we are. Paul urges us in Romans 12:1-2 to lay our old lives down and be transformed by God into a holy people. We also realize true growth happens in circles, not rows. The next step for anyone attending Salem is to join a Growth group. Living life along side other followers of Jesus, caring for them, learning from them, and keeping each other accountable is what Growth groups is all about.

Serve

Growing in our faith naturally leads to serving others. God has gifted each person differently as Paul lets us know in 1 Corinthians 12. As such, we provide opportunities inside the church, and outside the church to serve. Inside the church we strive to serve those who walk in our doors to provide the culture and atmosphere of love. Outside of the church, we understand our community (Sneads) and the surrounding communities (Jackson County) to have a high incidence of poverty. Our goal is to be a light shinning in our community by loving the people of the community in everyday ordinary ways. We know we cannot do that on our own and hope to join together with other churches to provide the love and light of Jesus to our community.

Disciple

“Go and make disciples”, is how the great commission (Matthew 28:18-20) begins. Many of us see the first word and think we have to leave where we are and “go” somewhere else. The truth is that phrase is better translated “As you go”. We want to make sure in everything we do we are pointing people to Jesus (whether they know Jesus or not). As we Worship, Grow, and Serve we believe we should also be lifting up, and pouring into, new believers
